Goo Goo Dolls Announce Major Summer Trek

Goo Goo Dolls have just rolled out a 32-date summer tour with O.A.R. serving as their opening act. The band will be on the road in support of its latest album, Chaos In Bloom. The summer run kicks off on June 24th at Tampa, Florida's Coachman Park and eventually winds down on September 7th at Highland, California's Yaamava' Theater.

Frontman John Rzeznik said in a statement, "I'm so proud to finally be able to announce our summer tour with a great band and our friends O.A.R. It's going to be an amazing night of great music for everyone so be there!!!"

Rolling Stone reported, "With the new tour, Goo Goo Dolls will partner with Joe Torre Safe At Home, a nonprofit that provides healing and education services for children who've survived domestic violence and child abuse."

John Rzeznik told us that one of the highlights of any show is the chance to connect with the band's original fans: "Everybody that came up with us came just as slow. So, it was no big shock. The people that were with us in the beginning, a lot of times, if they still show up, I mean we'll still talk to them and that just because they've realized that we haven't changed that much, maybe a little more sober. That's about it."

Rock Tour Roundup

Multiple rock acts announced North American tours and major festival dates on Tuesday (December 5th).

Skid Row and Buckcherry are teaming up for The Gang's All Here 2023 tour next spring.

Papa Roach and Falling In Reverse will be on the road together in February and March of 2023.

Bush will continue to tour in support of The Art of Survival in 2023, adding a winter run that will feature support from Jerry Cantrell Candlebox and Silversun during select dates.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Roll Out 2023 Tour Dates

Red Hot Chili Peppers have rolled out their 2023 global tour dates in support of the two new albums -- Unlimited Love and Return Of The Dream Canteen. The North American run kicks off in Vancouver at BC Place on March 29th with the final date on this side of the Atlantic set for May 25th at Houston's Minute Maid Park. The band will be on the road on Europe throughout June and July.

Supporting the Chili Peppers at assorted gigs will be such heavyweights as Iggy Pop, the Strokes, the Roots, St. Vincent, Thundercat, the Mars Volta, and City and Colour.

No matter how exotic the locale, bassist Flea told us not long ago that the band approaches each show the same way: "Y'know, with gigs, it's always the same for me -- some are fun, some aren't fun, but that doesn't really matter. Actually, serving the mighty tradition of performing for people is just something that I and we as a band care about deeply. So, no matter what the scene is, we're just in to go out there and tap in the source and reach into the most hardcore depths of who we are, to get what we can."

Singer Anthony Kiedis told us not long ago that the Chili Peppers have found a way to avoid burning out when touring for a long time: "We've got it fairly dialed in. You have to hope for the best, but we tour for a couple of weeks, we take a break for 10 days, we tour for a couple of weeks, take a break for eight days. . . I think we're in a better mental state to avoid burning out."

Evanescence's 'Fallen' Album Certified Diamond In U.S.

On November 30th, Evanescence's Fallen album was certified diamond by the RIAA for sales and streams of ten million units in the United States.

When asked if there were any plans for the band to commemorate Fallen's 20th anniversary in 2023, singer Amy Lee told Rock Sound via Blabbermouth, "I do have an idea. It's gonna take a little bit of work. But I think it probably won't be what everybody expects. I think everybody just is, 'Oh, why don't you do a show that's, like, playing the album front to back?' We've been playing so many shows, I would rather do something that, to me… I don't know."

She added, "I don't wanna give it away, in case it doesn't work out. Maybe I'll do nothing. Expect nothing, and then if I do something, you'll be really, really grateful. Laughs"

Aerosmith Cancels Concert, Steven Tyler 'Unable To Perform'

Two hours before show time, Aerosmith canceled their concert Friday night (December 2) in Las Vegas due to Steven Tyler "feeling unwell." According to a statement from the band, he was "unable to perform," but is expected to make a full recovery for tonight's show (Monday 12-5). Specifics of his illness were not revealed.

Aerosmith apologized for the last minute notice and offered refunds, but many fans posted their dismay as they had planned expensive trips to Vegas to see the show.

In June, the band canceled dates after Tyler entered a treatment program and stated that he had relapsed on pain medication following foot surgery.

Most recently, Aerosmith celebrated their 50th anniversary with a concert at Boston's Fenway Park.

Axl Rose Is Done Tossing His Mic Out To The Audience

Axl Rose took to social media on Friday (December 2nd) to announced that he's done throwing his mic into the audience after a woman was reportedly seriously injured.

Billboard reported that during Guns N' Roses' November 29th concert in Adelaide, Australia at the Adelaide Oval, a concertgoer named Rebecca Howe suffered two blackened eyes and a "busted nose."

Axl Rose tweeted a message to fans, which reads in full:

It's come to my attention that a fan may have been hurt at our show in Adelaide, Australia, possibly being hit by the microphone at the end of the show when I traditionally toss the mic to the fans. If true, obviously we don't want anyone getting hurt or to somehow in any way hurt anyone at our shows anywhere.

Having tossed the mic at the end of r shows for over 30 years we always felt it was a known part of the very end of r performance that fans wanted and were aware of to have an opportunity to catch the mic.

Regardless in the interest of public safety from now we'll refrain from tossing the mic or anything to the fans during or at r performances.

Unfortunately there are those that for their own reasons chose to frame their reporting regarding this subject in a more negative n' irresponsible out of nowhere light which couldn't be farther from reality. We hope the public and of course fans get that sometimes happens.

A BIG THANKS to everyone for understanding.

IN OTHER GNR NEWS

Guns N' Roses have taken legal action against an online weapon store named Texas Guns and Roses. The band filed suit on December 1st in Los Angeles Federal Court citing the website is attempting to "con" fans into thinking the band is associated with the business and is suing for an undisclosed sum.

CNS reported, "The lawsuit alleges that Texas company Jersey Village Florist operates the online store texasgunsandroses.com -- selling firearms, ammunition, scopes and body armor through the mail -- 'without GNR's approval, license or consent.' The plaintiffs allege that Jersey Village Florist 'selected and adopted defendant's marks for the purpose of confusing consumers into believing that it was connected or associated with, or licensed by, GNR.'"

The legal brief, which cites the band's partners as Axl Rose, Saul "Slash" Hudson, and Michael "Duff" McKagan, goes on to explain: "This is particularly damaging to GNR given the nature of defendant's business. GNR, quite reasonably, does not want to be associated with defendant, a firearms and weapons retailer. Furthermore, defendant espouses political views related to the regulation and control of firearms and weapons on the website that may be polarizing to many U.S. consumers." (CNS)

Jack White Fires Shot At Elon Musk Over Ye's Tweet

Jack White took to Instagram to throw a shot at Elon Musk after Kanye West was suspended for tweeting a photo of a swastika merged with the Star of David. He wrote, "So Elon, how's that ‘free speech' thing working out? Oh, I see, so you have to CHOOSE who gets free speech and who doesn't then? What kind of crybaby liberal suspends someone's free speech? Hmm…."

He continued," Conspiracy liar alex jones doesn't get "free speech" either? I see. So you're learning that these folks incite violence and hatred but trump...DOESN'T? Hmmm."

He added, "Or is it that liar jones, and anti-Semite egomaniac kanye can't provide tax breaks for billionaires the way the former president could? Or that maybe the controller of this "free speech" is insulted personally? Or that just maybe, there needs to be, oh I don't know, RULES and REGULATIONS or else you breed chaos?"

Lars Ulrich Calls Metallica The Brothers He Never Had

Lars Ulrich considers his Metallica bandmates the brothers he never had. Ulrich appeared on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show and discussed his relationship with James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo. Blabbermouth transcribed Ulrich as saying, "When I came to America (in the late-1970's), when I met James, when I met the other guys in the early years of the band and some of my friends when I landed here, there was that kind of rebellious thing. It was a big part of everybody who was 16 or 17; you were sort of rebelling against your parents. I never had that. I thought my parents were the coolest people in the world. Now, obviously, I've done therapy, and there were some issues, as you do a deeper dive into it. Denmark is a very liberal country, very safe country, so I'd say the flipside of my issues was I often was left alone and may still carry some issues of abandonment."

Ulrich went on to explain, "I think part of the reason that I love being in a band and feel so safe with James, Kirk, and Rob and the rest of the Metallica organization is I love being in a collective. They are the brothers I never had. And that safety in numbers."

Lars Ulrich told us a while back that the members of Metallica have gotten along consistently well ever since getting through the turbulent days of the early 2000's: "I mean, look, we don't wake up in the morning and call and see how the others slept. I mean, we don't spend 24-7 together. But the time that we share is definitely, to me, feels as solid and as mutually respectful as it's ever been."

Vinnie Paul's Estate Says There Can Never Be A Pantera Reunion

Vinnie Paul's estate has issued a statement, saying that there can never be a Pantera reunion but supports the upcoming tour. This past summer, news broke that the surviving members of Pantera, including singer Philip Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown, were joining forces with guitarist Zakk Wylde and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante to tour as Pantera.

The statement said, "There can never be a Pantera reunion without Vinnie and Dime. However, there is no better way to celebrate and honor Vinnie and Dime's legacy, than to bring the music of Pantera directly to the fans. We are honored that Charlie and Zakk, their very close friends and musical brothers, will share the stage with Philip and Rex, to unleash the power of Pantera live around the world."

Winston Marshall Says There's 'A Lot Of Censorship' Going On In The Music Industry

Former Mumford & Sons member Winston Marshall has criticized the music industry, saying there's "a lot of self-censorship going on." In a new interview with Tucker Carlson, he said, "The music industry is a small industry, and it's not entirely clear to me whether there is a chokehold by progressives on the industry or whether there is a minority of progressives that have a chokehold on the majority.

He continued, "But there's certainly a lot of self-censorship going on. People who are too scared to say the truth and I think that's because there is a professional and social repercussions if you do speak the truth and that's a serious issue."

He added, "People who are too scared to say the truth and I think that's because there is a professional and social repercussions if you do speak the truth and that's a serious issue."

In her annual Vanity Fair interview, Billie Eilish talked about how she's never smoked weed and didn't give any indication that she intends to start.

She says she's never smoked anything, never done drugs, and never gotten high. She explained, "It's just not interesting to me. I have other s*** to do."

Her answer goes along with a 2019 song she wrote called "Xanny," where she sings about how her peers are obsessed with drugs and alcohol while she remains unimpressed with it all.

Wolfgang Van Halen Rates Aaron Marshall His Favorite Guitarist Today

Wolfgang Van Halen says that Intervals guitarist Aaron Marshall is his favorite guitarist today. The massive endorsement form the son of Eddie Van Halen came during a chat with Guitar World, where Wolf declared, "Aaron Marshall is my favorite guitar player of today. An important thing my dad always said: when it comes to soloing, you should be able to hum the solo. On top of Aaron's ridiculous chops, he manages to work in the catchiest melodies. His melodic sensibility is one of my favorite things about his playing."

He went on to say, "On top of that, he's a wonderful man, a very kind dude. I feel like I have become a better guitar player because I've tried to learn all the songs on that album. . . He has such a wonderful melodic sensibility that is so different from people in his genre of the heavier, progressive, metal-y rock sort of thing. It really separates him from everyone else. I can't speak enough of how wonderful a guitar player and songwriter he is."

When pressed for his most-listened to album of the year, Wolf said: "Intervals' Circadian been my most-listened-to album for the past two years, so it's my pick for 2021 and 2022."

U2 Talk The Rough Times And The Future

U2 is gearing up for one of their most high-profile weeks in recent years -- with their December 4th salute in Washington, D.C., when they'll receive the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors. An edited version of the event will air later this month on CBS.

During a new chat with The Washington Post, Bono revealed some frank truths about the band, admitting, "We come close to breaking up much more often than you'd think. Usually after the really good albums, because they cost you in personal relationships because you're pushing each other and get really at your elastic limit."

Old friend, Boomtowm Rats founder and Live Aid organizer,m Bob Geldof explained how the Irish foursome has grown into their own skin over the past 45 years together: "It's a band, so there have been arguments, hard arguments, not-talking-to-each-other arguments, of course there are. But for them, they realized that the band is worth more than any individual idea."

Drummer Larry Mullen explained, "You only do this if you're having the best time. And not everyone is going to make it because the price is so high. So I think the challenge is for more generosity. More openness to the process. I am autonomous and I value my autonomy. I don't sing from the same hymn sheet. I don't pray to the same version of God. So everyone has their limits. And you only do this if it is a great time you're having, y'know?"

Regarding the future for U2, Bono said, "The country's changed for a group like U2. But I have a feeling that we have something. That if we can distill it on these next sessions, this unreasonable guitar record that we all want to make actually, I just feel there's a moment. . . I don't know if you can capture people for a whole album. But what if it was just an EP or just one song that could burst through? We don't need it on the pop charts. We don't. But we need people to pass it around. I think we do want that."

Bono feels that unlike many of their contemporaries, U2 has continued to grow with each new era, and has never felt their collective love for the band's work diminishing: "There's a certain contour that's expected of a band or an artist -- y'know, you do your best work very early on in your life, and then you kind of burn out. With our band, it doesn't feel like we're burning out. And if you were a photographer, or a screenwriter, or a poet, or a filmmaker, you might just be, y'know, getting the hang of it. But a lot of rock n' roll bands have burned out by our age. And I'm not buying into that."

Metallica Announces New Album, Rolls Out Tour Dates

Metallica has dropped the first single from the band's upcoming album and unveiled the tour dates for a major 2023/2024 tour dubbed M72. The band's 12th album, titled 72 Seasons, drops on April 14th with the new single, titled, "Lux AEterna" translating from Latin to mean "Eternal Light."

Rolling Stone reported, "Metallica will play two nights in every city on the tour -- with set lists that won't repeat songs night to night -- and various North American dates will see support from the reunited Pantera, as well as Mammoth WVH, Five Finger Death Punch, Ice Nine Kills, and Greta Van Fleet. Tickets go on sale December 2nd."

James Hetfield said in a statement, "72 seasons -- the first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told 'who we are' by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is a reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry."

Metallica began changing its set list nightly in 2003, with drummer Lars Ulrich telling us a while back that it keeps the show fresh: "When we started the St. Anger touring cycle, we started just changing the set every night. Up through the '90s, we got a little stuck, and it got a little rigid, and we would go out and play the same set list for six months every night. So we're really trying to just play different stuff every night. It's pretty cool."

Billie Eilish Is 'Really Happy' With Her New Boyfriend, Jesse Rutherford

Billie Eilish opened up about her boyfriend, Jesse Rutherford, in her sixth annual Vanity Fair interview.

The 20-year-old star told the outlet that she's "really happy" with the 32-year-old The Neighborhood frontman.

She said, "I managed to get my life to a point where I not only was known by a person that I thought was the hottest f—ing f—er alive, but pulled his ass. Are we kidding me? Can we just claps round of applause for me? Thank you! Jesse Rutherford, everyone."

After six consecutive Vanity Fair interviews, Eilish said that she's probably going to start taking breaks between years.

Evanescence's Amy Lee Opens Up About Being Criticized For Her Strong Opinions

Evanescence's Amy Lee opened up being criticized for her strong opinions. She told NME, "It's not that I care less; I just feel more confident in my decisions. And I guess, yeah, I care less when I think people don't get it or don't understand. I go, 'I'm not gonna worry and change what I believe or who I am because somebody might misunderstand or call me a b*tch or whatever.' I'm not one — I'm confident that I'm not one. And I think that no matter what you do…"

She continued, "I don't know… Especially when you're on a large stage… It was harder for me to understand this when I was 21 and we were just starting. But you can't expect everybody to really know you. They get to see a part of you and they get to see your music and they get to hear your voice and see the piece of you that is shown. But there's more to all of us. Just like I don't know them. So you've gotta kind of not be mad when people don't understand."

She added, "You just have to be strong. When you know you're doing the right thing and you know you're being true to your heart, just don't think about it."

Win Butler Accused Of 'Emotionally Manipulative' Behavior By A Fifth Person

Arcade Fire's Win Butler has been accused of "emotionally manipulative" behavior by a fifth person. According to Pitchfork, Butler has admitted to "consensual" affaris but insisted, "I have never touched a woman against her will, and any implication that I have is simply false. I vehemently deny any suggestion that I forced myself on a woman or demanded sexual favors. That simply, and unequivocally, never happened."

Pitchfork gave the new accuser the pseudonym "Sabina." Sabina said that she began an on and off three year relationship with Butler in the summer of 2015 when she was 22 and working as a waitress in Montreal. Sabina says that after texting and meeting up, the two had sex for the first time in his Montreal studio space.

She said, "In general, it was an abusive dynamic. It was really aggressive and I felt like I just had to do what he said. I was not really comfortable with some of the things he was asking me to do, but doing them anyway. And that is ultimately dehumanizing."

Pitchfork reported that Sabina "didn't overtly say no or otherwise try to stop him" but that she considers the encounters to have been not clearly consensual. She explained, "I think he genuinely wouldn't know if something was consensual or not."

Sabina said that Butler would send her unprompted explicit photographs of himself and asked her to do the same. Sabina said that she dated him until 2018 after she decided that she "didn't feel any kind of connection to him."

Butler's wife Regine Chassigne released a statement, saying, "I know what is in his heart, and I know he has never, and would never, touch a woman without her consent and I am certain he never did. He has lost his way and he has found his way back. I love him and love the life we have created together."
