Talking Heads' 'Stop Making Sense' Set For Deluxe Reissue

Set for release on August 18th is the Talking Heads' soundtrack to their classic 1984 concert film, Stop Making Sense. The critically acclaimed Jonathan Demme concert film will hit theaters globally later this year in a newly restored 4K version.

The new deluxe version of the soundtrack now includes the complete Stop Making Sense concert for the first time as a limited edition two-LP set, and digitally along with a Dolby Atmos mix of the complete concert, mixed by Talking Heads' Jerry Harrison and E.T. Thorngren, who also mixed the original release.

Highlights on the set features such Talking Heads favorites as "Psycho Killer," "Burning Down The House," "Take Me To The River," "Life During Wartime," and "Once In A Lifetime," among others.

Bandleader David Byrne told us a while ago that reliving the group's career required a bit of attitude adjustment for him: "I kinda had to set aside time for it -- psychological time, not just hours -- 'cause I knew that, 'OK, you're (laughs) gonna be delving into the past. Just allow yourself that kind of mental space.' And know that, kind of, 'OK, you'll get through it, and you can return to the present.'"

Streaker Interrupts Avril Lavigne During Juno Awards Broadcast

Viewers of Canada's Juno Awards got a big surprise this week, as a streaker walked on stage while Avril Lavigne was introducing an act.

Wearing pink pants and a matching pink bandana, a topless woman calmly walked onstage, with phrases like "Land Back" and "Save the Green Belt," written all over her body in black marker. Apparently protesting a highly controversial development deal in Canada's greenbelt region.

At first, Lavigne tried to ignore her, then finally turned and yelled, "Get the f**k off," and with a laugh, she flicked the protestor's breast and said it again. It was at about that point during the broadcast that a security guard finally walked calmly on stage and lead the woman away.

As for the awards portion of the show, Lavigne picked up a Fan Choice award for her album, Love Sux.

  • A streaker walked on stage while Avril Lavigne was introducing an act during Canada's Juno Awards.
  • She turned and yelled, "Get the f**k off," and with a laugh, she flicked the protestor's breast and said it again.

But it's tough to get a band that hasn't toured in 10 years to just do a show. We would have to put it all together. We would have to put weeks into preparing the production and weeks into doing the rehearsals. And it's a big production. You can't just do one show."

The Rolling Stones Sued Over Living In A Ghost Town

The Rolling Stones are being sued by a songwriter for their 2020 single "Living In A Ghost Town." According to Billboard, Sergio Garcia, who performs under the name Angelslang, has claimed that the Stones' track was based on "So Sorry" and "Seed of God." which he wrote in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

According to Billboard, the suit said that Jagger and Richards had "misappropriated many of the recognizable and key protected elements" from the older songs, adding that those elements included "vocal melodies, the chord progressions, the drum beat patterns, the harmonica parts, the electric bass line parts, the tempos, and other key signatures" from "So Sorry" and the "harmonic and chord progression and melody" from "Seed of God."

Garcia claimed that he'd given a demo CD to "an immediate family member" of Jagger, and that's how the band gained access to the music. "The immediate family member … confirmed receipt … to the plaintiff via e-mail, and expressed that the musical works of the plaintiff and its style was a sound the Rolling Stones would be interested in using."

He continued, "And the first thing out of the box was a really big hit. It lasted for six seasons. For a new show, it's unheard of. So, other offers came up, and my management over here started filling things up, and the next thing you know, more people know me from television than music."

But what I would love to see -- I would love to see us record a couple of tracks this year. Y'know, even if it's two or three tracks. Two tracks. . . I don't know; I feel two is nice.
