At the New York Film Festival premiere of the biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, on Sunday night (September 28), Bruce Springsteen gave a surprise solo acoustic performance of “Land of Hope and Dreams.” The Boss reflected on the significance of the film and expressed gratitude to actor Jeremy Allen White for “playing a much better-looking version of me.” He also honored his late parents, Douglas “Dutch” Springsteen and Adele Springsteen, who are portrayed by Emmy winner Stephen Graham and Gaby Hoffman in the movie. “They’re all gone now, so it’s nice to have this piece of film,” Springsteen said affectionately. Before his brief performance, Springsteen addressed the audience and spoke on the political challenges of today’s America, emphasizing the country as a “land of hope and dreams” that is worth fighting for.
