Nikki Sixx Gets Real About Eddie Vedder Feud

Rather than escalate his feud with Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx is trying to explain his anger at Vedder's comments. During a recent chat with The New York Times, Eddie Vedder recalled working at a San Diego venue back in the 1980's when glam metal was at its peak. Vedder remembered, "I'd end up being at shows that I wouldn't have chosen to go to -- bands that monopolized late-'80s MTV. The metal bands that -- I'm trying to be nice -- I despised. 'Girls, Girls, Girls' and Mötley Crüe: F*** you. I hated it. I hated how it made the fellas look. I hated how it made the women look. It felt so vacuous."

Blabbermouth transcribed a chat between Sixx and Brazilian entrepreneur Paulo Baron and music critic Regis Tade in which he shed light on his feelings about Vedder's unprovoked slamming of his band: "I'm not trying to be the guy that wrote (the Crüe song) 'Bastard' (from 1983's Shout At The Devil album), 'cause I'm not the guy that wrote 'Bastard'. I wrote that song about somebody that ripped us off. I am the guy that if you f*** with me, I will f*** with you back. And that's what that song is about. You take a swipe at my band; I'll take a swipe at your band. You try to hurt my family, which is my band; I will try to hurt you. That's not something to be proud about (laughs)."

Sixx explained that he and his bandmates were totally open to the grunge scene emanating out of the Pacific Northwest, recalling, "I remember going to MTV with (a copy of Nirvana's) Nevermind before it had come out. We were, like, 'Hey, you guys gotta check out this band. You gotta check out this band.' And they were bands that were coming. I remember having a cassette -- I think it was demos; it might not have been; it might have been early recordings -- for Rage Against The Machine, and I remember telling everybody about that."

He went on to say, "We've never been afraid to embrace music changing because that's the whole idea behind music. If you listen to 'Too Fast For Love' and then you listen to 'The Dirt', you're, like, 'Well, it's the same band, but it has grown.' So we never had a problem with that. My only thing is, you wanna take a crack at my band, I'm probably gonna say something back. But what I don't understand is why's the guy even talking about my band? He's a successful guy."

Nikki Sixx added, "Listen, let's face it: the guy flies around in private jets; he lives in a mansion in a gated community; he sells out stadiums; and then he dresses at the thrift store and tries to pretend some guy in the '90s. Don't take a swipe at my band, dude. I mean, I'm at least being honest."

Corey Taylor's Latest Mask Was Created By A 'Young Kid . . . A Fan'

Slipknot's Corey Taylor has been sporting a new mask which he debuted for fans during the band's performance at the Rocklahoma festival in Pryor, Oklahoma back in September. Taylor recently took part in a fan-oriented horror convention called Days of the Dead in Atlanta where he said that the new mask was actually created by a young Slipknot fan who "nailed it" from the beginning.

Blabbermouth.net reports Taylor said, "My new (mask is) pretty rad. I really sat down and tried to figure out . . . I worked with a guy named Conor Deless. He's a young kid; he's actually a fan. And I can remember laying out traits that I wanted to see and a lot of the stuff that inspired him. And when he sent me the preliminary sculpt — he didn't even sketch it out; he sent me a tiny sculpt — and it was so killer that I was, like, 'Yes. That's it.' I mean, he nailed it so quickly that I'd never . . . I've always had to go back and forth and do a bunch of tiny manipulations and changes and stuff, but he was so dialed in and he immediately got it that we were just, like, 'All right. Let's do this, man.' He drove in, did a mold of my head, and the rest is history."

Taylory replied "no comment" when asked if there had been any masks over the years that he "absolutely hated" and "couldn't wait to get off."

Slipknot will kick off the its Knotfest Roadshow Tour on March 16th in Fargo, ND with special guests In This Moment and Wage War.

After sharing a Weezer-approved cover of their 2001 hit "Island in the Sun" to social media last month, Morgan Evans received a video response from the band's front man, Rivers Cuomo, that blew his mind. On Thursday (March 3rd), Rivers took to his own social media to offer a new verse on Morgan's current single, "Country Outta My Girl." The comment section exploded with requests from fans for a full version of the song and on Friday (March 4th), Morgan released "Country Outta My Girl (feat. Rivers Cuomo)."

Rivers posted his performance on social media first on Friday writing, "I see your 'Island in the Sun' and I raise you a 'country outta my girl.'

Morgan shared the final collaboration on social media writing, "Rivers re-wrote the 2nd verse and chorus for this version and I think it's one of the most badass, weird and wonderful things I've ever been a part of! Shoutout to Rivers for lending his genius to this tune. I hope this puts a big smile on your face today . . ."

Morgan recently announced his own headlining show overseas, performing at the Lafayette in London on July 14th and marking his first UK show since 2019. He will join Brad Paisley for additional European dates.

According to The UK Mirror, the two are returning to their U.K. home Welders House in Buckinghamshire. Ozzy said, "We are leaving LA. We are a bit sad. But the tax is getting too much. Red Hot Chili Peppers Drop Second Single From 'Unlimited Love'

Red Hot Chili Peppers have just dropped "Poster Child," the second single from their upcoming album, Unlimited Love. The album, which is set for release on April 1st, reunites the band with famed producer Rick Rubin.

In a new interview with Classic Rock magazine, the L.A. natives talk about the hair band scene that dominated the Sunset Strip as they were also making their bones in clubs around town. Flea remembered, "We were definitely against the hair-metal scene. We were, like, 'F*** them. We're the underground, art-rock, get-weird east side guys; those guys are just rehashing Aerosmith and Kiss.' In retrospect it was all petty bull***. A lot of those bands were f***ing great. Guns N' Roses was a great band."

Frontman Anthony Kiedis spoke about the difference between the Chili Peppers and the other bands coming up at the time: "We were a party band, but you have to have something to bring to the party. Flea was instrumental in saying: 'We have to be good, we have to write some new s***, we have to have something to move these people.' We always came fully loaded."

Flea explained, "There was a certain arrogance. A 'F*** the world, f*** the system, f*** the authority, f*** the powers that be, we're us and we're doing our thing our way, we're street kids' thing. We were going hard and being wild."

Kiedis added: "It didn't dawn on us that there was something other than selling out clubs and making people happy and being original."

Flea told us a while back that their love of music has kept the Chili Peppers going through good times and bad: "No matter what has happened, no matter how vulnerable and raw our pain, how much pain we went through or how much was good and we worked really hard and reaped rewards from it -- no matter what happened, we've always, like the thing that has remained really earnest and really humble is our love for music and our willingness to be students of music."

Ex Bullet For My Valentine Bassist Jason 'Jay' James Drank For Four Months Straight After Band Departure

Ex Bullet For My Valentine bassist Jason "Jay" James has revealed that he drank for four months straight after getting kicked out of the band. According to Blabbermouth.net, he said, "When all that happened, on a Thursday it kind of happened, I found out, and it was a shock. And I didn't want Monday to come, because it was too much to deal with, so I thought, 'I'll just get f*cked up for now and I'll deal with all of that on Monday.' But Monday didn't come for four months. And I just kept on hiding behind the alcohol in my house, which is what happened to me, 'cause I didn't know what to do."

He continued, "All I'd done for the last 10, 12 years was play guitar on stage, tour, management, all that kind of stuff. And then suddenly I felt like there was nothing; I didn't know what to do. So the answer to me was in my friend alcohol. So that's what I did. And that got out of control, which led me to get some help and go into rehab and become sober, to where I am now."

Grohl acknowledged that relevance can be tricky to define, but thinks there's a lot of great music out there.

He said, "They might not be as popular as Nicki Minaj, but honestly, when I see f***ing Billie Eilish, that's rock 'n' roll to me. She started a revolution and took over the world."

The interview was published this week in The Independent.

TL;DR:

  • Grohl: "When I see f***ing Billie Eilish, that's rock 'n' roll to me. She started a revolution and took over the world."

Dave Grohl Surprised At The Quality Of 'Studio 666'

Dave Grohl revealed that none of the Foo Fighters expected their new movie Studio 666 to come out as professionally as it did. Grohl spoke to Rock Cellar and admitted, "Originally, none of us imagined we were going to make a full-length feature film. We thought, in true Foo Fighters fashion, it would just be some low-budget run-and-gun thing, maybe a longform video that would make people laugh, y'know? But we made the mistake of hiring the most talented people in town to make the film. (Director) BJ (McDonnell) is a legitimate badass, he's worked on some really, really amazing films. And Tony Gardner did the special effects. I mean, that guy, he's full f***ing Hollywood legend. And then the entire crew. . . I think we were surrounded by a like-minded group of people that were there just to f***ing have a good time."

After acting in his videos and directing his various documentary projects, Dave Grohl was asked how it felt to be directed as an actor in a major motion picture: "It's very, very different. And different process, too, I mean, like, if we're doing a documentary, when I sit down to interview someone, they say 'action,' and I just have a conversation, I very rarely hold questions. And I'm learning as much as the viewer as I'm doing this. With the film, oh my god, there's so much, like, hurry up and wait, and the prosthetics and makeup and the scripts, and the take after take. A very, very different process, but both really fun."

He went on to explain, "These are things that. . . we wouldn't do these things if they weren't enjoyable to the band. We don't do anything unless it's enjoyable for the band."

Foo Fighters perform on Friday (March 4th) in Geelong, Australia at GMHBA Stadium.

Marilyn Manson Sues Evan Rachel Wood Over Abuse Allegations

Marilyn Manson has sued ex-fiancee Evan Rachel Wood over her abuse allegations. According to Deadline, the suit claims that Wood's rape and abuse allegations are a "malicious falsehood" that has derailed Manson's music, TV and film career. He also accused Wood of defamation and impersonation of an FBI agen.

The complaint -- which was filed Wednesday morning (March 2nd) in Los Angeles Superior Court, read, "This action arises from the wrongful and illegal acts done in furtherance of a conspiracy by Defendant Evan Rachel Wood and her on-again, off-again romantic partner, Defendant Ashley Gore, a/k/a Illma Gore, to publicly cast Plaintiff Brian Warner, p/k/a Marilyn Manson, as a rapist and abuser—a malicious falsehood that has derailed Warner's successful music, TV, and film career."

The suit -- which is seeking a jury trial, goes on to make some accusations against Wood and Gore, alleging that the duo hacked into the singer's computers and social media, as well as "created a fictitious email account to manufacture purported evidence that Warner was emailing illicit pornography."

The suit continued, "It's incredibly important to differentiate between the character of ‘Marilyn Manson' and the man Brian Warner. Wood's claims may resonate because of the intentionally ‘shocking' character of ‘Marilyn Manson' but they simply do not reflect the truth. The manufactured facts these conspirators scripted a decade after the event never happened."

Manson later posted a message on Instagram, saying, "There will come a time when I can share more about the events of the past year. Until then, I'm going to let the facts speak for themselves." He advised viewers to click the link in his Instagram bio which directs them to a PDF of the lawsuit.

Manson is asking for unspecified damages.

Dave Grohl Recalls Hanging Out At The Site Of The Manson Murders

While publicizing the Foo Fighters' new horror spoof Studio 666, Dave Grohl revealed he actually partied at the site of the infamous Manson murders. Grohl recalled hanging out at 10050 Cielo Drive where pregnant actress Sharon Tate and three of her house guests were mercilessly slain by followers of Charles Manson on August 8th, 1969.

Grohl recalled to Britain's The Independent, "When I was young, I was kind of obsessed with the macabre and knew everything about the Manson Family and those killings. Then, in the summer of '92, I was staying in California with a friend in this tiny house with no air conditioning." Grohl went on to say that every day the pair would search out a new swimming pool to cool off in.

He remembered, "My friend called me and said, 'Guess where we're swimming today? The house where Sharon Tate was killed by the Manson Family.' It was f***ing dark because it became real, everything I knew about it: walking into that house, it was real. And that house had not changed; the front door, the living room. It was f***ed up. It was legitimately f***ed up. It was not cool at all."
