Halestorm To Release Graphic Novel This Fall

Halestorm will release a graphic novel this Halloween celebrating the 10th anniversary of the band's 2012 EP, Hello, It's Mz Hyde, and the subsequent album, The Strange Case Of . . ., called Hyde Manor. Blabbermouth.net reports that the novel "depicts the members of Halestorm encountering sinister doppelgangers of themselves. Within the decrepit halls of Hyde Manor, mirror reflections independently talk back and photographs transform to reveal sordid prophecies, leading the band to slowly succumb to madness while recording a new album."

Lzzy Hale shared the news on social media writing, "I'm so incredibly excited that this is finally happening. We are releasing a graphic novel! Penned by our beautiful badass friends the Winner twins and featuring a few of our favorite artists, the story takes you down a rabbit hole of good and evil. An epic battle of Darkness vs Light. Is it truth? Is it fantasy? You decide!"

55 Years Ago Today!!!! The Turtles' 'Happy Together' Hits Number One

It was 55 years ago today (March 25th, 1967) that the Turtles' "Happy Together" began its three-week run at Number One. "Happy Together" was written by Gary Bonner and Alan Gordon, who were members of the Boston area group the Magicians. The pair went on to write the group's follow-up single, "She'd Rather Be With Me" as well as Three Dog Night's "Celebrate."

"Happy Together," which knocked the Beatles' "Penny Lane" out from the top spot, has gone on to be featured in numerous TV shows, films and commercials, most recently for the Burger King chain.

Turtles' frontman Howard Kaylan says that he and group co-founder Mark Volman -- better known as Flo & Eddie -- made the right choice in deciding to battle for the group's trademark and ownership of their songs: "Because we went through the lawsuits back in the '60s and '70s with our label to regain our name and our credibility, and a little bit of self-esteem -- we were able several years later to actually win our name back, and the masters and the right to keep recording as the Turtles."

Kaylan told us that well after nearly-60 years in the business, he's happy with the way his life and career has turned out: "It's been a wonderful existence the way we've played the game. Y'know, if you really love the music and you really love the entire concept of rock n' roll and being a little slice of Americana, and adding your two cents to the tapestry, there's no better life in the world than the one that was chosen for us."

Throughout the years "Happy Together" has been covered by such artists as Dawn, the Captain & Tennille, Vikki Carr, Mel Torme, Petula Clark, Melba Moore, Donny Osmond, the Ventures, Percy Faith, and Frank Zappa, among others.

In 2013, Howard Kaylan published his memoir, called Shell Shocked: My Life With the Turtles, Flo And Eddie, And Frank Zappa, Etc.

Liam Gallagher Says Most Rock Stars Are 'Useless,' Including U2

Liam Gallagher says that, excluding himself, the majority of rock stars are "useless," and that includes U2. He shared these sentiments recently with Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez explaining, "The ones that think they're rock stars are not, they . . . just live a very boring f**king life. I think rock 'n' roll deserves a little bit more than just making music, you know what I mean? You gotta get out there and get yourself — you just gotta live an exciting life . . . "

Gallagher's comments were initially triggered by an interview Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl did with NME calling Gallagher "one of the few last remaining rock stars." A fan shared Grohl's message with Gallagher on Twitter, to which Gallagher replied, "He's correct the rest of them are useless."

While on Loudwire Nights, Gallagher specifically namechecked U2 saying, "It's like U2, they pass themselves as a rock 'n' roll band, but what the? Come on, man, I've never seen f**king Bono, I mean I've never seen any of them do anything remotely rock 'n' roll." He explained that they should have gotten "into a bit more naughty stuff" in order to call themselves a rock 'n' roll band.

Gallagher's new album, C'Mon You Know, is due out on May 27th.

Machine Gun Kelly Blames False News Reports For Lawsuit

Machine Gun Kelly has blamed his fame and false news reports for his failure to respond to an assault and battery lawsuit filed against him by a disabled parking lot attendant. He claims that because of his celebrity status, the stories reported about the allegation were either false or partly true.

In the complaint filed last September, the attendant John Tilli alleged that Kelly pushed and threatened him while he was working. The LA City Attorney's Office decided not to charge, due to "reasonable likelihood of conviction."

Kelly is now requesting a judge to allow him to fight the civil claim over the alleged incident… so that he can clear it up.

MGK denies the allegations and claims that he had not been served with the complaint and hadn't seen the official publication of the summons prior to the deadline to respond to the lawsuit.

He said that he promptly retained counsel when he learned of the lawsuit but that was after stories had been published.

Thirty Seconds To Mars To Release New Music 'Momentarily'

Thirty Seconds To Mars will be releasing new music "momentarily," according to lead singer Jared Leto. He recently told Apple Music 1, "As challenging as (lockdown) was for so many people around the world and devastating for so many, there was also a flipside to it . . . It was a blessing. And I sat and I started writing. It took me a month or two to get into the swing of things. But (we) wrote about 200 songs. And we have maybe two albums, maybe three, worth of material."

Last year, Leto told NME that "listening to Italian hits" of the '70s and '80s while filming House Of Gucci had created "a well of inspiration" for new material. He said, "There are a lot of those sounds that definitely are on the new (Thirty Seconds To Mars) album."

The band's upcoming sixth studio album will follow 2018's ‘America'.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Teases New Single 'Not The One'

Red Hot Chili Peppers teased their new single "Not The One." The song, which is off of their upcoming album Unlimited Love, is due out on April 1st.

Meanwhile, the band opened up about Unlimited Love, saying, "Our only goal is to get lost in the music. We (John, Anthony, Chad and Flea) spent thousands of hours, collectively and individually, honing our craft and showing up for one another, to make the best album we could. Our antennae attuned to the divine cosmos, we were just so damn grateful for the opportunity to be in a room together, and, once again, try to get better."

The band continued, "Days, weeks and months spent listening to each other, composing, jamming freely, and arranging the fruit of those jams with great care and purpose. The sounds, rhythms, vibrations, words and melodies had us enrapt.

Aerosmith Rolls Out 2022 'Deuces Are Wild' Vegas Dates

Aerosmith will resume its Las Vegas "Deuces Are Wild" residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM, beginning June 17th, with a total of 24 dates played before the end of 2022. General on sale tickets starting at $75 go on sale on Thursday, March 31st at 10 a.m. PT.

Back in 2019 guitarist Joe Perry explained the allure of playing the "Deuces Are Wild" residency telling Variety, "This has been an incredible opportunity to play a smaller version of our regular show in an intimate seating (and) a way to present the heart and soul of the band's essence with added elements you wouldn't have ever been able to do in a one-night-only setting. It's something very different than what we have ever done before."

The band enlisted Beatles archival producer Giles Martin, who co-designed the sound for Cirque du Soleil's The Beatles LOVE show, to supervise their sound in Vegas. Steven Tyler shed light on how the production in Vegas makes everything else pale in comparison: "The sound takes everything about this show to the next level, and it's a 360 experience; full immersion. Nowhere else can fans hear what I'm hearing and see what I'm seeing like they can at our show. We found the best people we could for every aspect of the show. Whether it was the lights, sound, mechanics, all the moving parts, we had the best people."

In 2018, Aerosmith appeared on NBC's Today show to announce its initial residency at the 5,200-seat Park Theater at Park MGM. While at Today, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Joey Kramer explained what fans can expect from the upcoming Vegas run: "(Steven Tyler): We decided to do Vegas (cheers) Viva Las Aerosmith. (Joe Perry): Well, we wanna bring a show in there that we really can't do when we're on the road on a regular tour. So we wanna bring a show that still has Aerosmith and all the guts of Aerosmith, but has a whole other element to it that we've never been able to do before. (Joey Kramer): We bring you into, into Aerosmith's world, the history behind our almost 50 years of being together. And as soon as you walk into the Park Theatre in Vegas, you're going to walk into Aerosmith world. Everything about it is going to be Aerosmith, Aerosmith, Aerosmith."

And people, sort of, wonder why, 'Well, wait, don't they love each other? Why did they have that fist fight?' Well, if you, if you were in a little submarine with 12 of your friends for six months straight, somebody would hit somebody eventually, man, trust me."

He even suggested how to do it. "The guy with his drunken buddies hurling racial epithets, take photos of him. They're going to fire his a** right away, because they don't want the attention of hiring a hate-monger."

Flea Describes His Bass Playing As A 'Cosmic Spiritual River'

Flea continues to focus intently on his musicianship -- especially his bass playing. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are currently prepping for a massive tour behind their from their upcoming album, Unlimited Love, which is set for release on April 1st.

In a new interview featured in the April issue of Bass Player magazine, Flea shed light on how he's approaching the instrument these days: "I think about playing bass -- particularly as it relates to the Red Hot Chili Peppers -- as like a river. With the bass-lines and the way I want to play them, I want to live my life in a way that allows me to open myself up enough for this cosmic, spiritual river to flow through me. I can unleash it however it needs to go -- like when it needs to be violent rapids, or when it needs to be a calm, still pool. However I can serve the chords, the melody, the rhythm and the harmony, I'm going to be loose and free and let it flow."

As lifelong musician, Flea's only ambition is to improve his playing, admitting, "I want to be better. The specific goals I have as a bass player are that I want to become a better soloist, and I want to expand my cerebral knowledge of chord progressions and bass-lines, so I can be a good jazz bass player."

He went on to say, "I want to f***ing rock harder than ever. I want to stir the souls of human beings when we play. And I want to be a good bandmate -- I want to connect with my bandmates, and be a great support to them and help them be the best they can be. I love my band and I'm really proud of the music we've recorded. I feel like it's beautiful. I feel like it's the best we can do. I feel like we're firing on all cylinders and at the top of our game, and I just want to continue to do all those things."

Flea told us that part of becoming a better playing constantly listening to other musicians and letting the inspiration flow through his own playing: "Of course, we rip off people all the time. I mean, no good artist doesn't. I mean, that's what art is for, to rip each other off. It's what you rip off and how you interpret what you rip off and in what context you rip it off. I mean, y'know, we learn from musicians, but we express what's in our hearts, and even though we're influenced and we do rip off other people, of course, you know, we have our own way and we live outside of the rules."

Red Hot Chili Peppers kick off their European dates on June 4th in Seville, Spain at Estadio La Cartuja De Sevilla

Flashback: Led Zeppelin's 'Physical Graffiti' Hits Number One

It was 47 years ago today (March 22nd, 1975), that Led Zeppelin's sixth album, Physical Graffiti, hit Number One on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The album, which marked the band's only studio double set, was released on February 24th, 1975 and topped the charts for six straight weeks, staying in the Top 10 for 12 weeks.

Physical Graffiti remains beloved by fans for such Zeppelin classics as "Kashmir," "Trampled Under Foot," "Houses Of The Holy," "In My Time Of Dying," "Down By The Seaside," "Boogie With Stu," "In The Light," and "The Wonton Song," among others.

Much like the Rolling Stones' 1972 double album, Exile On Main Street, Physical Graffiti is a hodge podge of new songs mixed with high quality outtakes from previous albums -- "Bron-Yr-Aur" was originally intended for 1970's Led Zeppelin III; "Boogie With Stu," "Down By The Seaside," and "Night Flight," were recorded in 1971 for that year's Led Zeppelin IV album. "The Rover," "Houses Of The Holy," and "Black Country Woman" were originally recorded in 1972 for the following year's Houses Of The Holy collection.

We asked Jimmy Page if he knew going in that Physical Graffiti was going to be a double album -- and whether half the set would be comprised of outtakes from the band's previous albums: "I thought about it, but it was as good as the material that we came up with. I knew it was going to be fun to revisit this stuff and sort of even go retro on ourselves. There's not many. . . nobody had done that, really. Not that I know of. And I just thought that it would be really good to add even more colors to the pallet. Because there was such variety across the other albums, and just to make something that was such a statement, that 'this is what we do, and how we do it, and nobody is anywhere near it.'"

Jimmy Page said that he laid the ground work for the new material while composing in his home studio: "I made it my business to make sure that we were gonna come up with that amount of material, because I had a good half-a-dozen -- even more than half-a-dozen pieces to go in with. And one of the ones I had was, like, ‘Ten Years Gone,' with all the guitar overdubs, because I had a home studio, a multitrack studio, so I could do all this sort of thing and I planned towards it. So, I had ‘Wonton Song,' I had 'Sick Again,' on and on and on."

We told Page that "Ten Years Gone" -- one of the many unsung classics on Physical Graffiti -- might actually sum up the essence of him as a musician: "I really appreciate what you're saying about the, sort, of essence of it, and I must say that I really intended to make something that is like a guitar-orchestral piece, that's exactly what I intended. And when I was going through it, Robert (Plant) just came up with these lyrics, which were so bang on, it was just absolutely perfect, with a whole plaintive aspect of what it was. Y'know what I mean? It's emotional call. It was absolutely marvelous, really."

Prior to hitting the studio, Jimmy Page had spent a considerable amount of time demoing his new songs and working out his parts at his home studio, before bringing it to the band for their contributions: "I also had the riff and what becomes the brass and electric 12-string (guitar) interjections over that riff of ‘Kashmir.' And ‘Kashmir'; was the first thing that I was just busting to get in there with John Bonham -- and actually, how it worked out was exactly what it was. It was just me and John Bonham on the recording track. I said, ‘Alright, let's get on with it,' and we started playing the riff. And he absolutely loved the ‘Kashmir' riff. And we were playing it over and over, like trance music, and then we did a take of it and then we started overdubbing the extra parts to it, which were going to become the parts that you hear coming in on the orchestra; ‘cause I did think of this orchestral (part) right from the outset, and I also thought of it around the drums, building around the big drum sound and everything else."

In 2015, Led Zeppelin's deluxe, expanded three-disc reissue of the double album was released featuring unheard material and alternate mixes.
